Education and Professional Experiences

I received a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (go Heels!) and my doctorate in clinical psychology from Rutgers, the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology. For my doctoral research study 'Women warriors: Exploring the various dimensions of female service-members' role identities,' I was awarded the New Jersey Psychological Association Foundation's Scholarship for Research on Diversity Issues.

I have worked in various settings throughout my training and career, including Veterans' Affairs medical centers, hospitals, community mental health centers, and private practices, working with both adolescents and adults.  At Rutgers, I received training in CBT and several evidence-based therapies for depression, anxiety disorders, sleep, and PTSD. I also received specialized training and supervision in DBT for several years under Dr. Shireen Rizvi, a student of Dr. Marsha Linehan, the developer of DBT.  I completed my APA accredited doctoral internship at the VA Hudson Valley Healthcare System, where I developed specialization in trauma-focused therapies and achieved certification in Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD in 2019. I grew my specializations in CBT and exposure-based therapies (including ERP) for anxiety, panic, and OCD as a postdoctoral fellow at Center for Anxiety. I have also previously held academic appointments as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and continue to work as a PTSD psychologist at the VA Healthcare System.
