Nicole Eskenasi, Psy.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Education and Professional Experiences
I’m a licensed clinical psychologist with a strong foundation in evidence-based treatments and a passion for helping individuals navigate anxiety, trauma, and life transitions. I earned my B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (go Heels!) and my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Rutgers University – Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology. My doctoral research, "Women Warriors: Exploring the Various Dimensions of Female Service Members' Role Identities," was recognized with the New Jersey Psychological Association Foundation's Scholarship for Research on Diversity Issues.

Throughout my clinical training and professional career, I have worked in a variety of settings—including Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers, hospitals, community mental health clinics, and private practice—treating both adolescents and adults. I completed my APA-accredited internship at the VA Hudson Valley Healthcare System, where I developed expertise in trauma-focused therapies and became a certified provider of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in 2019.

I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and exposure-based therapies, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), particularly for individuals struggling with anxiety disorders, panic attacks, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). My postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Anxiety allowed me to deepen my clinical skills in treating these conditions using structured, research-supported approaches.

In addition to clinical practice, I’ve held academic appointments, including serving as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. I continue to work as a PTSD psychologist at the VA Healthcare System, where I remain committed to providing high-quality, trauma-informed care to veterans and civilians alike.
